John Ralls acb3076c53 [Bug #697402] configure doesn't find python on Debian 
Lose the PKG_CHECK_MODULES for python and make sure that Python.h is
present and findable in AC_PYTHON_DEVEL instead.

Mike Alexander 5307ca5ab3 Find the python libraries and includes even if the path to them includes a symlink. 
When python is installed using MacPorts there is a symlink in the path.
