A new webpack entrypoint is created for media-optimization, so that
webpack can take care of bundling up the dependencies. The main Worker
is still hosted in `public/javascripts`, since Workers must be
same-origin.
This commit adds a new dropdown preference to set the default color mode for
the user and change the color mode for the current device. It works the same way
as the interface color selector in the sidebar footer (or header), but it also allows
setting the default mode for the user that gets used when the user logs in on a
new device. It remains possible to set a color mode per device using the
sidebar/header selector or this new preference.
Internal topic: t/159358.
We believe the rich editor is a great experience for the
vast majority of sites and users, so we are enabling it
for all sites and all users by default.
This commit does the following:
* Hides the rich_editor site setting and sets it to true by default.
It can still be overridden by sites that want to disable it
completely.
* Sets `rich_editor` to true for all sites to enable the rich editor
everywhere.
* Adds a new `default_composition_mode` site setting and corresponding
user option that defaults to Rich for all users. The other option is
Markdown.
* Changes the rich editor toggle in the composer to use the new
database-backed user option (`composition_mode`) instead of a local
storage key/value store. This makes the preference persistent
across devices.
Existing key/value store settings for the markdown toggle are
kept, the preference will be saved to the user option automatically.
Restores the category text/foreground color field that was removed in
#32015.
We are also retaining the auto text color selection that was introduced
and applying on background color change rather than when the form is
saved. The text color algorithm has been changed from color brightness
to use color difference instead, which appears to be more reliable.

- Load moment and moment-timezone-with-data via webpack import instead
of including copies in every locale file
- Fetch static files from node_modules instead of `vendor/`
This cuts the size of locale-specific JS files in half, since they no
longer include moment itself.
New configure fonts section was added. Because now we have two sections
completed (logos and fonts), new /branding page was introduced and old
/logo and /font pages was removed.
When text size is changed, modal is displayed to ask if preferences of
existing users should be retrospectively updated.

Some site settings support backfilling if the user specified it. This works fine for singular site settings sent to the SiteSettingsController#update endpoint, but with bulk save we need to support this for a list of settings as well.
This change alters the params format for SiteSetting::Update.
It also moves the backfill logic into the service.
Currently, after creating an API key, there is no way in the UI to see what scope the key has. To do this we need to first store the selected scope mode when creating a new key.
In this PR we:
- Convert scope_mode from a transient attribute to a database backed enum.
- Ship the possible values through the javascript:update_constants rake task instead of hard coding in front-end.
In follow-up PRs we will:
- Backfill existing API keys based on their associated api_key_scopes records.
- Start showing the scope mode in the UI.
This commit moves most of emoji logic into the discourse-emojis gem:
https://github.com/discourse/discourse-emojis/
Most notably:
- images are now symlinked from the gem
- the gem provides path to the json files
Search aliases have also been made asynchronous and memoized. When you
will search for an emoji we will now load the aliases and store the list
for future use.

Adds extra functionality and tests for the admin search modal.
* Show third level plugin config pages in search, e.g. AI Usage
* Remember last used search filters
* Allow navigating search results with keyboard, using tab or up/down
and enter to go to result
* Add a placeholder beneath search input to tell the admin what to do
* Add a full page search at `/admin/search` which can be reached from
pressing Enter on the search input
* Add specs for modal and full page search
* Change admin sidebar filter "no results found" to point to full page
search
* Add keyboard shortcut help to modal for admin search
This change adds a new `type_source` field to the `Reviewable` model, indicating whether the Reviewable type was registered by `core`, a plugin, or an `unknown` source.
When a plugin that registered a Reviewable type is disabled, this allows us to tell the user which plugin they need to re-enable to handle any orphan reviewable items.
This commit converts the `AdminReport` component, which is quite
high complexity, to gjs. After this initial round, ideally this
component would be broken up into smaller components because it is
getting quite big now.
Also in this commit:
* Add an option to display the report description in a tooltip, which
was
the main way the description was shown until recently. We want to use
this on the dashboard view mostly.
* Move admin report "mode" definitions to the server-side Report model,
inside a `Report::MODES` constant, collecting the modes defined in
various
places in the UI into one place
* Refactor report code to refer to mode definitions
* Add a `REPORT_MODES` constant in JS via javascript.rake and refactor
JS to refer to the modes
* Delete old admin report components that are no longer used
(trust-level-counts, counts, per-day-counts) which were replaced
by admin-report-counters a while ago
* Add a new `registerReportModeComponent` plugin API, some plugins
introduce their own modes (like AI's `emotion`) and components and
we need a way to render them
The chat emoji picker is renamed emoji-picker, and the old emoji-picker is removed.
This commit doesn't attempt to fully rework a new emoji-picker but instead tries to migrate everything to one picker (the chat one) and add small changes.
Other notable changes:
- all the favorite emojis code has been mixed into one service which is able to store one state per context, favorites emojis will be stored for all topics, and for each chat channel. Meaning that if you always use a specific emoji in a channel, it will only show as favorite emoji in this channel.
- a lot of static code has been removed which should improve initial load perf of discourse. Initially this code was around to improve the performance of the emoji picker rendering.
- the emojis are now stored, once the full list has been loaded, if you close and reopen the picker it won't have to load them again.
List of components:
- `<EmojiPicker />` will render a button which will open a dropdown
- `<EmojiPickerContent />` represents the content of the dropdown alone, it's useful when you want to render a picker from an action which is not the default picker button
- `<EmojiPickerDetached />` just a simple wrapper over `<EmojiPickerContent />` to make it easier to use it with `this.menu.show(...)`

The `categories_only_optimized` category page style has been introduced
in commit d37a0d401c. This commit makes
sure that style is enforced for users who can see over 1000 categories
in order to keep `/categories` page functional.
This will bring significant improvements to install speed & storage requirements. For information on how it may affect you, see https://meta.discourse.org/t/324521
This commit:
- removes the `yarn.lock` and replaces with `pnpm-lock.yaml`
- updates workspaces to pnpm format
- adjusts package dependencies to work with pnpm's stricter resolution strategy
- updates Rails app to load modules from more specific node_modules directories
- adds a `.pnpmfile` which automatically cleans up old yarn-managed `node_modules` directories
- updates various scripts to call `pnpm` instead of `yarn`
- updates patches to use pnpm's native patch system instead of patch-package
- adds a patch for licensee to support pnpm
Our old group SMTP SSL option was a checkbox,
but this was not ideal because there are actually
3 different ways SSL can be used when sending
SMTP:
* None
* SSL/TLS
* STARTTLS
We got around this before with specific overrides
for Gmail, but it's not flexible enough and now people
want to use other providers. It's best to be clear,
though it is a technical detail. We provide a way
to test the SMTP settings before saving them so there
should be little chance of messing this up.
This commit also converts GroupEmailSettings to a glimmer
component.
- Delete vendored copy
- Create a JS entrypoint under `static/` which imports all the modes/themes/extensions we need
- Create an async `load-ace-editor` entrypoint
- Update `<AceEditor` component to use the new entrypoint
- De-jquery-ify `<AceEditor`
- Bump `v1.4.13` -> `v1.35.2`
Many site settings can be distructive or have huge side-effects
for a site that the admin may not be aware of when changing it.
This commit introduces a `requires_confirmation` attribute that
can be added to any site setting. When it is true, a confirmation
dialog will open if that setting is changed in the admin UI,
optionally with a custom message that is defined in client.en.yml.
If the admin does not confirm, we reset the setting to its previous
clean value and do not save the new value.
Continued work on moderate flags UI.
In this PR admins are allowed to change the order of flags. The notify user flag is always on top but all other flags can be moved.
This commit introduces a few changes as a result of
customer issues with finding why a topic was relisted.
In one case, if a user edited the OP of a topic that was
unlisted and hidden because of too many flags, the topic
would get relisted by directly changing topic.visible,
instead of going via TopicStatusUpdater.
To improve tracking we:
* Introduce a visibility_reason_id to topic which functions
in a similar way to hidden_reason_id on post, this column is
set from the various places we change topic visibility
* Fix Post#unhide! which was directly modifying topic.visible,
instead we use TopicStatusUpdater which sets visibility_reason_id
and also makes a small action post
* Show the reason topic visibility changed when hovering the
unlisted icon in topic status on topic titles
Why this change?
On a slow network, using the `AceEditor` component will result in a blob
of text being shown first before being swapped out with the `ace.js`
editor after it has completed loading.
There is also a problem when setting the theme for the editor which
would result in a "flash" as reported in
https://github.com/ajaxorg/ace/issues/3286. To avoid this, we need to
load the theme js file before displaying the editor.
What does this change do?
1. Adds a loading spinner and set the `div.ace` with a `.hidden` class.
2. Once all the relevant scripts and initialization is done, we will
then remove the loading spinner and remove `div.ace`.
Why this change?
While the constant does not change very often, we should still avoid
duplicating the value of a constant used on the server side in the
client side to avoid the values going out of sync.
This is v0 of admin sidebar navigation, which moves
all of the top-level admin nav from the top of the page
into a sidebar. This is hidden behind a enable_admin_sidebar_navigation
site setting, and is opt-in for now.
This sidebar is dynamically shown whenever the user enters an
admin route in the UI, and is hidden and replaced with either
the:
* Main forum sidebar
* Chat sidebar
Depending on where they navigate to. For now, custom sections
are not supported in the admin sidebar.
This commit removes the experimental admin sidebar generation rake
task but keeps the experimental sidebar UI for now for further
testing; it just uses the real nav as the default now.
- Remove vendored copy
- Update Rails implementation to look for language definitions in node_modules
- Use webpack-based dynamic import for hljs core
- Use browser-native dynamic import for site-specific language bundle (and fallback to webpack-based dynamic import in tests)
- Simplify markdown implementation to allow all languages into the `lang-{blah}` className
- Now that all languages are passed through, resolve aliases at runtime to avoid the need for the pre-built `highlightjs-aliases` index
Followup to b53449eac9, we cannot
generate the links to plugin admin pages in this way because it
depends on which plugins are installed; we would need to somehow
do it at runtime. Leaving it out for now, for people who need to
find these admin routes the Ember Inspector extension for Chrome
can be used in the meantime.
NOTE: Most of this is experimental and will be removed at a later
time, which is why things like translations have not been added.
The new /admin-revamp UI uses a sidebar for admin nav. This initial
step adds a script to generate a map of all the current admin nav
into a format the sidebar to read. Then, people can experiment
with different changes to this structure.
The structure can then be edited from `/admin-revamp/config/sidebar-experiment`,
and it is saved to local storage so people can visually experiment with different ways
of showing the admin sidebar links.
No plugins or themes rely on anonymous_posting_min_trust_level so we
can just switch straight over to anonymous_posting_allowed_groups
This also adds an AUTO_GROUPS const which can be imported in JS
tests which is analogous to the one defined in group.rb. This can be used
to set the current user's groups where JS tests call for checking these groups
against site settings.
Finally a AtLeastOneGroupValidator validator is added for group_list site
settings which ensures that at least one group is always selected, since if
you want to allow all users to use a feature in this way you can just use
the everyone group.
Previously workbox JS was vendored into our git repository, and would be loaded from the `public/javascripts` directory with a 1 day cache lifetime. The main aim of this commit is to add 'cachebuster' to the workbox URL so that the cache lifetime can be increased.
- Remove vendored copies of workbox.
- Use ember-cli/broccoli to collect workbox files from node_modules into assets/workbox-{digest}
- Add assets to sprockets manifest so that they're collected from the ember-cli output directory (and uploaded to s3 when configured)
Some of the sprockets-related changes in this commit are not ideal, but we hope to remove sprockets in the not-too-distant future.
Before, incorrectly filled fields were marked with red border. Now, additional information under the field is displayed to notify the user what is incorrect.

We were only supporting the main name of each HighlightJS language. So, by default, you could not use `js` or `jsx` to highlight Javascript, given they are aliases for `javascript`.
This PR adds a list of aliases as a constant to core (built via a rake task), and then checks against the `highlighted_languages` site settings plus the list of aliases when processing a code block.
