Add a GUI feature for restoring previous versions of a project file from
its backup database, replacing the need for the external standalone tool.
- RiaProjectBackupTools: add extractVersionsToFolder() to read all stored
revisions from a project's .rspdb backup database and write each one to
a timestamped .rsp file in a destination folder.
- RicRestoreProjectVersionsUi: dialog for selecting the project file and
export folder, defaulting to the currently open project. Adds a Recent
Project Files dropdown (backed by RiuRecentFileActionProvider) that
quickly populates the project file and export folder fields.
- RicRestoreProjectVersionsFeature: new command feature wired into the
File menu as 'Restore Previous Project Versions...', using the
OpenFolder icon and placed after a separator below Save Project / Save
Project As.
- RiuRecentFileActionProvider: add recentProjectFiles() to expose the
list of recently used project files.
- Added '...' suffix to Save Project As, consistent with other
dialog-launching actions.
Add preferences for HPC/Batch scheduler
Add Slurm and LSF support
Add batch job monitor
Support launcher specific user settings
Use internal timer to refresh job state
Add some more options to batch monitor
Improve naming
Add tests for job lists
Change WSL handling for processes.
RiaGuiApplication::notify queried RiaOpenTelemetryManager::instance() for every event. Make the crash flag a static atomic so the check never constructs the manager or takes part in its initialization.
Repainting while the crash handler pumps the event loop can crash again,
replacing the original report with one blaming the crash handler.

WA_DeleteOnClose left RiuMainWindow::instance() and RiuPlotMainWindow::instance() null after the user closed a window, so any unguarded use crashed. Keep both windows alive for the application lifetime and rebuild their views when a closed window is shown again.
Fixes#14899.
New Zonation/Formation Names source WELL_PICKS_NO_TRAJECTORY resolves zone
depths directly from a well-picks file + well name, for tracks without a well
path (e.g. RFT plots without a trajectory). Kept strictly separate from the
existing WELL_PICK_FILTER (well-path-based) source so neither falls back into
the other's resolution path. RFT plots automatically select this source when
no well path exists but a matching well-picks file is found.
Also avoids including RiaWellLogTrackDefines.h from header files; the affected
headers now use opaque enum forward declarations, with the real definitions
included only in the .cpp files that need the enumerator values.
Register a 'workflows' experimental feature and gate the taskmaestro Workflows
UI behind it, following the registry pattern from #14081. The Workflows tree
collection is only added in RimProject::defineUiTreeOrdering when the feature is
enabled, and RimWorkflowCollection::rescanWorkflows() skips the eager discovery
scan (and its per-workflow Python introspection) when disabled.
Add fetch og polygons from cloud using ri-cloud-api service as submodule
Current version of submodule fetches polygons from Sumo, prodviding polygons with standard results tag.
- Added RimGeneric3dView, a 3D view that is not tied to any grid case,
useful for wells, surfaces and other data not requiring a reservoir
grid. The view supports a custom name.
- Introduced RimGenericViewCollection, a new top-level collection that
holds both Eclipse views and RimGeneric3dView instances. It overrides
defineUiTreeOrdering() to display both types as a single flat list
under the top-level 'Views' node.
- RimOilField now exposes a single genericViewCollection instead of a
plain eclipseViewCollection field.
- RimEclipseViewCollection is unchanged and continues to be used for
per-case and ensemble view collections.
- Updated RimEclipseCase::globalViewCollection() and related helpers to
use RimGenericViewCollection, and added matching overloads in
RicNewViewFeature for creating eclipse views from the merged
collection.
- Added RicNewGenericDataViewFeature to create a new generic data view
from the context menu.
The import and schedule export of simulator events are two halves of the same
workflow, so they share the "simulator-events" flag instead of having one
keyword each. Users who enabled "simulator-events-import" have to tick the new
entry once in Preferences -> System -> Experimental Features.
The schedule generated from the well event timeline can now be written to
file from the GUI, without scripting.
- RicScheduleDataGenerator::generateScheduleForTimeline() collects the dates
and wells from the timeline (honoring the last applied timestamp, never
filtering insert-date events). The Python generate_schedule() method now
calls it, so GUI and Python export the same schedule.
- New RicExportScheduleFeature "Export Schedule from Events" asks only for the
file name and uses fixed defaults: the Eclipse case of the active view (else
the first case of the project), MSW keywords for every well with events, the
first date as a comment and aligned columns.
- Available from the context menu of the well event timeline and the well path
collection, and from File -> Export, gated by the new experimental feature
"simulator-events-export".
RiaEnsembleNameTools::groupFilesByEnsembleName had no branch for
EnsembleGroupingMode::NONE, so it silently returned an empty map and
no ensemble was created for this grouping mode. Add handling that
groups all input files into a single ensemble.
Also surface warning dialogs instead of silently doing nothing when
no ensemble/grid ensemble could be created from the selected files,
in RicImportGridAndSummaryEnsembleFeature and
RicCreateGridCaseEnsemblesFromFilesFeature.
- Add RimViewWindow_exportSnapshot on RimViewWindow (3D views and
plots) with explicit ExportFolder, Prefix, Width, Height and
FileFormat parameters. Generated as ViewWindow.export_snapshot().
- Add RimProject_exportSnapshots for exporting all views and/or plots
with a ContentType parameter. Generated as Project.export_snapshots().
- Add RiaDefines::SnapshotFileFormat and SnapshotContentType enums,
registered as Python StrEnums.
- Extract single-item exportSnapshotOfView()/exportSnapshotOfPlot()
from the RicSnapshotAll*ToFileFeature loops so the object methods
and the legacy loops share the implementation.
- RicfExportSnapshots resolves the export folder from the command file
executor and forwards to the object methods.
Python: the hand-written ViewWindow.export_snapshot() wrapper is
removed (generated method is compatible). PlotWindow.export_snapshot()
and Project.export_snapshots() keep their legacy argument names
(file_prefix, output_format, snapshot_type, plot_format) as deprecated
aliases. Case.export_snapshots_of_all_views() is deprecated in favor
of View.export_snapshot().
Also fix Case.views(), which compared the view id to the case id and
therefore never returned any views.
Extends the existing single-curve auto axis assignment (unit and summary vector matching, then alternating left/right) to also cover RimEnsembleCurveSet. Previously ensemble curve sets were always placed on the default left axis, so e.g. FOPT and FOPR ensembles ended up on the same axis despite differing units.
- Add RimEnsembleCurveSet::unitNameY(), looked up from the first available summary case reader in the ensemble.
- Move X and Y axis assignment from RimSummaryPlot to new RimSummaryPlotTools. Y-axis assignment takes a RiaSummaryAddressModifier::CurveAddressProvider, and compares against both curves and curve sets in the plot.
- RimEnsembleCurveSetCollection::addCurveSet gains an autoAssignPlotAxis flag (default true, matching addCurveAndUpdate for single curves).
Also fixes a bug in the summary plot editor where ensemble curve sets manually assigned to different Y-axes collapsed onto the same axis when clicking OK. The PdmPtrField axis reference does not resolve across the cloned preview and target plots. Add RimEnsembleCurveSet::findOrAssignLeftOrRightAxisY() to capture and re-apply the axis explicitly.
Add RimSummaryPlot-Test.cpp with unit tests for axis auto-assignment of curves and ensemble curve sets.
Fixes#14728
Add the ResInsight-featuretests executable: a headless GUI test harness (RiaFeatureTestModelBuilder, RiaFeatureTestTreeView), a runner that triggers Ric*Feature commands through their QAction (RicFeatureExecutionRunner), a generic execution sweep over every registered feature (RicFeatureSweep-Test, RicFeatureExecutionSweep-Test, RicFeatureSubprocessSweep-Test, RicFeatureSweepDenylist), and supporting CMake wiring. Adds RiaRegressionTestRunner::setRunningRegressionTests() so tests can suppress modal dialogs, and shares RimMockSummaryCase as a common test model under TestModels.
Register a new "cvf-logging" experimental feature keyword and guard both
RiaCvfLoggingManager::initializeCvfLogging() and shutdownCvfLogging() with
RiaPreferencesSystem::current()->isFeatureEnabled("cvf-logging"). The bridge
now stays disabled by default, and can be turned on for troubleshooting via
Preferences -> System -> Experimental Features.
Also document how to enable and use it: added a step-by-step usage note to
RiaToCvfLogging.h (enable the feature, restart, use --loglevel debug to see
cvf's debug output, look for the 'cvf[<logger-name>]: ' prefix) and expanded
the experimental feature description shown in Preferences -> System ->
Experimental Features accordingly.
libstdc++ defines __cpp_lib_stacktrace from GCC 13 on, but the implementation
lives in libstdc++exp, which some distributions do not ship (Red Hat's
gcc-toolset among them). The header-only feature test then reports the feature
as present and the link fails with undefined references to
std::__stacktrace_impl::_S_current.
Add cmake/StdStacktrace.cmake, which probes the feature by actually linking:
first with no extra library, then with stdc++exp. The result selects the link
library through RESINSIGHT_STACKTRACE_LIBRARIES, or defines
RIA_HAS_STD_STACKTRACE=0 project-wide when neither links, so the crash handler
compiles out its stack-trace capture and logs the signal only.
RiaMainTools.cpp and RiaOpenTelemetryManager.h now honour a
RIA_HAS_STD_STACKTRACE definition from the build system and only include
<stacktrace> when the feature is enabled.
Follow-up to #14045.
spdlog::logger objects have their own internal severity filter
(defaulting to info) independent of RiaLogging's own level checks.
Without explicitly setting the spdlog logger's level to debug, .debug()
calls were silently discarded regardless of RiaLogging's configured
level, making debug-level logging invisible in the log file.
cvf loggers default to LL_WARNING on a console destination and are never
wired to RiaLogging, so cvf's own diagnostics never reach the log file. A
rendering failure is therefore silent, with no artefact a user can send us.
Add RiaToCvfLoggingBridge (cvf::LogDestination) and RiaCvfLoggingManager,
mirroring RiaToCafLoggingBridge, to forward cvf log events into RiaLogging.
Wire initialize/shutdown into RiaApplication.
cee.cvf, cee.cvf.OpenGL and cee.cvf.qt follow the application log level:
LL_INFO normally, LL_DEBUG only when the application itself is set to debug,
so normal runs stay quiet.
Add grid data from Sumo using ri-cloud-api
Load Eclipse grid data (roff) from Sumo as RimReservoirGridEnsemble, one case per realization, with async fetch of grid properties per timestep.
- New: RiaSumoGrid (transport), RifReaderSumoGridProperty (lazy property reader), RimReservoirGridEnsembleSumo, RimRoffCaseSumo, and a "Create Reservoir Grid Ensemble" command.
- Shared grid: IJK dimensions compared before download; one RigMainGrid is reused across the ensemble when they match, each realization still parses its own ACTNUM before releasing geometry.
- Rename folders: Summary/Sumo -> Summary/Cloud, RimSumoDataSource -> Cloud/ (PDM keywords unchanged, old project files still load).
- UI: cloud data sources also shown in the 3D window's Data Sources dock.
- Fix: realizations no longer lost on project reload; realizations missing data are now reported instead of silently skipped.
Add the data model for showing contour maps inside a regular 3d view. RimContourMapInView is a presentation wrapper that decides where a contour map is placed vertically in the 3d scene and what parts of it are drawn; the contour map itself, including the result, the aggregation and the computed geometry, remains owned by the contour map view it points at. RimContourMapInViewCollection owns the set of contour maps available in a 3d view. Add a CONTOUR_MAP entry to RiaDefines::ItemIn3dView so the project tree can be refreshed for just the contour map items.
Each iteration writes to its own element of accumulatedValidValues, which is sized before the loop, so no synchronization is required. The write to curveValues a few lines below uses the same pattern without a critical section.
All unnamed critical regions share a single process wide lock, so this also removes contention against unrelated parallel loops.
Send one batched request per event batch instead of one request per event.
Application Insights v2/track accepts an array of envelopes, so a batch of up
to maxBatchSize (512) events was previously issued as 512 concurrent POSTs.
QNetworkAccessManager only opens a handful of connections per host, so the
queued requests were aborted by their own transfer timeout before reaching the
wire, reported as "HTTP 0: Operation canceled".
Honour the circuit breaker in processEvents(). It was only checked when
enqueuing, so the up to 10000 already queued events kept being posted at full
rate after the breaker opened. The crash and shutdown flush bypasses the
breaker so a crash report is still attempted.
Keep at most one request in flight. Failures are only observed when the reply
finishes, which for an unreachable endpoint takes the full transfer timeout,
and the 100 ms timer kept launching requests during that window.
Log the circuit breaker transition once instead of on every subsequent failure.
Only read the reply body when the device is open. An aborted reply has a closed
device, and reading from it emitted a QIODevice warning per request.
Call attemptReconnection() from the process timer. It was dead code, so once
the breaker opened it could only close if a reply happened to succeed.
Sumo data is loaded so the application stays responsive while it waits.
Run Sumo transfers on a dedicated thread
Split RiaSumoConnector into transport and data delegates
Load Sumo summary vectors concurrently and without waiting
Show that Sumo data is being loaded
When the summary plot time axis is configured to show time from simulation start, the text produced by Show Plot Data and the ASCII export now reports the same values instead of date and time. The time column header becomes "Time [<unit>]", and each row reports the elapsed time relative to the first time step of the first curve, scaled to the display unit selected on the time axis. Plots using the date based time axis are unchanged.
Time in months and years is computed using calendar arithmetic instead of a fixed number of seconds per unit, so a time step exactly N calendar months or years after the simulation start reports exactly N. This makes resampled data report whole numbers also when a leap year is part of the interval. The calendar arithmetic is available as RiaQDateTimeTools::calendarYearsBetween() and calendarMonthsBetween(), and is used both when plotting the curves and when reporting the time column.
Introduce RiaZScaleTools as a single source for the Z-scale factor list, merging the predefined factors with custom values entered during the session. The toolbar combo box, the property editor combo box and the Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down shortcuts all use this shared sorted list.
The toolbar combo box previously appended custom values at the end, producing an unsorted, ever-growing list, and the shortcuts stepped through the predefined factors only, skipping custom values visible in the list.
The lower limit of a logarithmic color range was computed from the value closest to zero, which is not always available. When this value was zero, log10() returned -inf and the lower limit ended up as zero. Use the closest power of ten below the lowest value instead, and use the value closest to zero only when the lowest value is zero or negative. Guard computeTenExponentCeil() and computeTenExponentFloor() against zero, and make sure the range always spans at least one decade.
RiaCurveMerger::addCurveData and RiaWellLogCurveMerger::addCurveData only
validated that the X and Y vectors have the same size with CAF_ASSERT, which is
compiled out in optimized builds. Mismatching sizes are a legitimate run-time
condition for data read from file, so the check has to hold in release builds as
well.
In RiaCurveMerger the shared-X fast path in computeInterpolatedValues() indexes
the Y vector of every curve using the sample count of the first curve. A curve
with identical X values but fewer Y values therefore read past the end of its
heap buffer inside the OpenMP loop. RimEnsembleStatisticsCase passes time steps
and values straight from the summary reader without reconciling the sizes, and
realizations in an ensemble normally share time steps, so this was reachable for
an ensemble containing an ongoing simulation.
Both mergers now truncate the incoming data to the common sample count instead.
For RiaWellLogCurveMerger this is also an improvement in behaviour, since
lookupYValue() used to discard the whole curve when the sizes differed.
Add unit tests covering a single curve with fewer values than time steps and
curves with shared time steps where one curve has fewer values.
Deleting PDM objects on a worker thread is not safe. PdmObjectHandle::prepareForDelete()
mutates state owned by other objects, it nulls the guarded pointers held by other objects
and clears m_pointersReferencingMe, an unsynchronised std::set that every PdmPointer
construction and destruction touches. Destroying an object off the main thread therefore
races with the main thread on the shared object graph. See issue 14491.
Profiling a summary ensemble teardown shows the mechanism does not pay for itself. Releasing
397 Drogon realizations takes 0.24 s sequentially and 0.24 s in parallel, and for a heavy
case the parallel release is slower than the sequential one, because free() is serialised
inside the allocator. The PDM bookkeeping itself is 0.4 to 2.8 percent of the teardown.
Remove the class and deleteChildrenAsync(), and delete synchronously instead. The call sites
that used clearWithoutDelete() and a manual delete loop to work around the race can now call
deleteChildren() directly. Add caf::PdmObjectHandleTools::deleteObjects() for the case where
the objects are no longer owned by a child array field.
The observer disconnection from issue 12262 does not depend on clearWithoutDelete(). ~Signal()
unregisters itself from every observer, so a deleted child detaches itself. That fix addressed
the async race, where ~Signal() mutated the observer list from a worker thread. The unit test
is updated to assert the observed signal count directly instead of relying on a crash.
cvfBase.h includes cvfAssert.h, so these six files were the last indirect route
into the assert header that the previous commit removed from ApplicationLibCode.
Five files dropped the include with no further change. RimSeismicAlphaMapper
declared alphaValue as returning cvf::ubyte, a typedef defined in cvfBase.h
itself, so no smaller VizFwk header provides it. Since cvf::ubyte is
unsigned char, use that directly in the declaration, the definition and the
cast. The type is identical, so callers are unaffected, and the class no longer
depends on VizFwk at all.
