Add grid data from Sumo using ri-cloud-api
Load Eclipse grid data (roff) from Sumo as RimReservoirGridEnsemble, one case per realization, with async fetch of grid properties per timestep.
- New: RiaSumoGrid (transport), RifReaderSumoGridProperty (lazy property reader), RimReservoirGridEnsembleSumo, RimRoffCaseSumo, and a "Create Reservoir Grid Ensemble" command.
- Shared grid: IJK dimensions compared before download; one RigMainGrid is reused across the ensemble when they match, each realization still parses its own ACTNUM before releasing geometry.
- Rename folders: Summary/Sumo -> Summary/Cloud, RimSumoDataSource -> Cloud/ (PDM keywords unchanged, old project files still load).
- UI: cloud data sources also shown in the 3D window's Data Sources dock.
- Fix: realizations no longer lost on project reload; realizations missing data are now reported instead of silently skipped.
Constructing an Opm::Parser populates the complete keyword database (2774
keywords, measured at 2.4 ms per construction) and this was done once per
keyword event in RifEventKeywordFormatter::buildKeyword, and twice more per
keyword in the column-aligned serialisation in RimKeywordFactory. Schedule
generation was therefore completely dominated by parser construction and grew
directly with the number of events on the timeline. Use a single shared parser
instance instead, since the parser is stateless once constructed.
Also compute the events for a date once in generateDateSection and pass them to
the per-well helpers, instead of calling RimWellEventTimeline::getEventsAtDate
four times per well and date, which scaled as dates x wells x events.
Generating a schedule for a production data set with 1737 events over 490 dates
goes from 4.2 s to 0.1 s, and 21000 events over 14 wells now complete in 0.5 s.
Sector model export removed all ACTNUM and FAULTS keywords from the deck
and re-inserted the sector-specific replacements at the end of the GRID
section, which always lands in the main DATA file. Decks that keep these
keywords in separate include files lost their file organization, leaving
the original include files empty while the data was written inline.
Collapse duplicates to a single occurrence instead of removing all
occurrences, so the subsequent in-place replacement keeps the keyword in
its original file when the deck is saved with OutputMode::COPY. ACTNUM
keeps the last occurrence since a later ACTNUM overrides an earlier one;
FAULTS keeps the first so fault definitions do not move past keywords
referencing them.
All unnamed critical regions map to the same implicit name, so a single process wide lock was shared by summary import, geometry generation, grid bounding box computation and NNC merging. Unrelated parallel loops therefore serialized against each other.
Give each region a critical_section_ name describing what it protects. The two regions guarding RifOpmCommonEclipseSummary::sm_createdEsmryFileCount deliberately share one name, as they protect the same counter.
The loops were annotated with #pragma omp for, which is a work-sharing construct that does nothing outside an enclosing parallel region. Replace it with #pragma omp parallel for so the cell loops actually run in parallel.
A delta ensemble creates summary addresses for all realizations of the source ensembles. When a calculation was created after this, only the realizations showing tree nodes had their addresses recreated. The other realizations had no calculated address, and RimDeltaSummaryCase::values() discarded the vector as being present in only one of the source ensembles. Only realization 0 was plotted until the project was reloaded.
Add RifSummaryReaderInterface::refreshCalculatedAddresses() to recreate the addresses of the calculated readers without touching the native readers, and call it for all cases in an ensemble when calculations are updated.
opm-common scales MAPAXES to meter based on the MAPUNITS keyword, while COORD and ZCORN are left in the units given by GRIDUNIT. The map axis transform uses normalized axes plus an origin translation, so the origin must be in grid units to match the node coordinates. Scale the map axes accordingly, and use with_mapaxes() as the guard, as get_mapaxes() returns a fixed size array that is only assigned when the MAPAXES keyword is present. The duplicated map axes handling in the two readers is moved into a shared function.
RivSingleCellPartGenerator-Test.cpp and RivIjkIntersectionGeometryGenerator-Test.cpp both define buildBoxGrid in an anonymous namespace. The definitions do not collide as long as the two files end up in different unity build chunks, but adding a test file repartitions the chunks and the build then fails with a redefinition error.
transferStaticNNCData() takes the connection count from the INIT file using
ecl_nnc_data_get_size(), but iterates the geometry from the grid file using
ecl_nnc_geometry_iget(). The two counts were only compared in an assert, which
is compiled out in release builds, so an INIT file out of sync with the grid
reads past the end of the geometry vector inside resdata.
Compare the counts at run time, log a warning and iterate the smaller of the
two. Both nncConnections and transmissibilityValuesTemp are filled in the same
loop and stay aligned.
Remove 95 cvf include lines that the including file does not use. Found by
extracting the symbols declared by every VizFwk header, including symbols they
re-export, and flagging includes where none of those symbols appear anywhere in
the file. Each removal is verified by a full build.
Most of them are cvfVector3.h and cvfObject.h, left behind as the files they
were once needed by changed.
pch.h is left untouched. It includes cvfObject.h and cvfVector3.h on purpose, so
that the files using the precompiled header do not have to.
Note that a clean build after removing an include does not prove the include was
unnecessary, only that the declarations still arrive some other way. That path
can differ between platforms and with RESINSIGHT_ENABLE_UNITY_BUILD, so this
needs a CI round on Linux as well.
Migrate all assert macros in ApplicationLibCode to CAF_ASSERT and remove every
use of cvfAssert.h.
CVF_ASSERT is replaced one to one. CVF_TIGHT_ASSERT is also replaced by
CAF_ASSERT, which is semantically exact: CVF_ENABLE_TIGHT_ASSERTS is 1 only
under _DEBUG, and that is what CAF_ASSERT now does. The two CVF_FAIL_MSG sites
become CAF_ASSERT( false && "message" ), preserving the message with the idiom
already used elsewhere in the code base.
Counts before and after: CVF_ASSERT 1044 to 0, CVF_TIGHT_ASSERT 66 to 0,
CVF_FAIL_MSG 2 to 0, cvfAssert.h references 154 to 0.
Include handling: files that included cvfAssert.h directly now include
cafAssert.h instead, includes left dead by the migration are removed, and files
that were relying on cvfAssert.h transitively get an explicit cafAssert.h. Files
that reach cafAssert.h through another caf header are left unchanged; a missing
include here is a compile error, not a silently disabled assert.
ResultStatisticsCache links only LibCore and therefore had no path to
cafAssert.h. Add the cafPdmCore directory as a private include path rather than
linking the library, since cafAssert.h is header only.
Note that this stops these asserts from firing in Release and RelWithDebInfo,
where CVF_ASSERT was previously active.
Replace the QString* errorMessage out-parameter with std::expected<RigFormationNames, QString> in RifFormationNamesReader, and propagate the pattern to RimFormationNames::readFormationNamesFile() which now returns std::expected<void, QString>.
Fatal errors (file cannot be opened, FMU line-parse failure) return std::unexpected. Malformed .lyr lines are still skipped so the rest of the file loads, with warnings logged via RiaLogging instead of collected in the out-parameter. RimFormationNamesCollection::readAllFormationNames() now logs errors it previously discarded.
Keywords in invalidPropertyDataKeywords() (e.g. ECHO/NOECHO) are skipped without setting an error message, but readProperties() logged the empty string as an error. Only log when there is an actual message.
validKeywordsForPorosityModel divided valueCount by the number of active matrix cells without checking it, causing SIGFPE during grid import when the matrix porosity model has no active cells.
Return early when the requested porosity model has no active cells, and guard the remaining matrix divisors.
Opm::EclIO::ESmry::dates() throws when the summary file has no TIME vector. The call was made
from inside an OpenMP critical section, and GCC terminates the application when an exception
leaves an OpenMP structured block. The result of the call was never used.
Remove the unused call, and move the exception handling inside the critical section.
A SMSPEC file without a UNSMRY data file is re-read on every request for a summary vector, since RifReaderEclipseSummary::open returns false and no reader is cached. For an ensemble with multiple realizations missing UNSMRY, this is a severe performance problem.
Guard RifReaderEclipseSummary::open so that when no ESMRY, h5 or resdata data file is present, it returns true and creates a valid but empty reader. Skip ESMRY conversion when no UNSMRY is present, and add RifEclipseSummaryTools::hasSummaryDataFiles to detect the missing data file.
ecl_file_iget_named_kw() performs an unchecked vector access in ERT and
crashes (SIGSEGV) when the requested keyword does not exist in the active
file view. findAvailablePhases, readUnitsType and isExportedFromIntersect
called it for INTEHEAD without first checking the keyword is present. Guard
each call with ecl_file_get_num_named_kw(), matching the existing pattern in
this file.
Reuse RimColorLegendCollection::updateColorLegend in the two roff import
sites that previously deleted and recreated the legend bound to a result,
so views referencing the legend keep their binding on re-import.
Extract the rock color matching from createColorLegendMatchDefaultRockColors
into matchDefaultRockColors so the facies branch can pass matched colors to
updateColorLegend. Remove the now-unused
RimColorLegendCollection::createColorLegend.
When building the device branch layer, segments were claimed using a measured-depth-only terminator. When a lower-numbered tubing branch is located at greater measured depth than a higher-numbered branch, its device segments were absorbed into the wrong branch, extending the branch beyond its true total depth. Stop claiming device segments when the segment outflow connects to a different tubing branch.
ecl_file_iget_named_kw() performs an unchecked vector access and crashes with SIGSEGV when the requested keyword occurrence does not exist in the active file view. Bounds-check the occurrence against ecl_file_get_num_named_kw() in both keywordData() overloads before calling it, and check the previously ignored return value of ecl_file_select_block() in results() so a stale active view is not queried.
ecl_grid_alloc can return null for a corrupt or truncated grid file.
When a valid INIT file was present, loadAllGrids dereferenced the null
grid pointer via ecl_grid_dual_grid/ecl_grid_get_global_size before
returning, causing a segfault.
Guard the init-file active cell logic on a non-null grid so the function
returns null cleanly, letting the existing null check in open() report
the error gracefully.
Gate the derived oil volume cell result behind the new 'oil-volume-result'
experimental feature instead of RiaApplication::enableDevelopmentFeatures().
In the ROFF file reader, drop the enableDevelopmentFeatures() gates around the
grid dimension, timing and array diagnostics and log them at debug level instead,
so the output is available without RESINSIGHT_DEVEL but stays quiet in normal
runs.

buildKeyword placed every user-supplied item into a single DeckRecord,
so multi-record keywords such as TUNING (3 records, each terminated by
its own '/') were emitted with only one record/slash and rejected by the
simulator.
Distribute items across the keyword's records using the OPM ParserKeyword
schema: each item is matched to the record that defines it. Every record
is emitted (empty records are written as a bare '/') so the schema's
record structure is preserved, and items unknown to the schema are now
reported via a warning. Single-record keywords keep their previous
behaviour, including appending non-schema items after the canonical
block.
The schedule generator previously concatenated full keyword blocks
(`KEYWORD ... /\n/\n`) — one per well — producing verbose output where
each WELSPECS / COMPDAT / WCONHIST / WELSEGS / COMPSEGS / etc. block
appeared once per contributing well. Eclipse keywords are designed to
hold multiple records under a single header; the per-well repetition is
syntactically valid but bloats the file and obscures intent.
Switch `RicScheduleDataGenerator` to accumulate
`std::map<QString, Opm::DeckKeyword>` instead of raw concatenated text.
Each per-well helper now returns an `Opm::DeckKeyword`, and a new
`mergeKeyword` primitive appends its records into the accumulator entry,
creating the entry from the helper's keyword on first encounter. At
emission time each accumulated keyword is serialised once.
To support this, `RifEventKeywordFormatter` is split: each `format*`
QString function now wraps a corresponding `build*` function that
returns `std::optional<Opm::DeckKeyword>`. `RimWellEventKeyword` and
`RimKeywordEvent` expose a parallel `generateDeckKeyword` accessor.
The text-scraping `extractKeywordName` helper becomes dead code and is
removed.
Schedule-level keywords whose OPM ParserRecord is a single ALL-sized item
(RPTRST, RPTSCHED, ...) are not positional — they take a free-form list
of mnemonic tokens like `BASIC=2 DEN ROCKC NORST=1`. Previously each
`keyword_data` entry became its own DeckItem, and OPM emitted them
either as truncated positional values or as a quoted, space-collapsed
single string.
Detect that schema shape in `RifEventKeywordFormatter::formatKeyword`
and pack the user's entries into one RawString DeckItem of mnemonic
tokens: `KEY` for FLAG items, `KEY=VALUE` otherwise.
To distinguish flag mnemonics (`DEN`) from `KEY=1`-style entries, add a
new `FLAG` value to `RimWellEventKeywordItem::ItemType` plumbed end to
end (Python -> GRPC -> Rimc -> storage -> formatter). The Python API
now maps `bool True` to FLAG and silently drops `bool False`.
For positional keywords (WCONHIST etc.) FLAG items have no value to
emit and are rendered as default markers ("1*").
A `rawStringItem` helper is added to `RifOpmDeckTools` so the
mnemonic-list path can produce DeckItems whose OPM output is not
quoted.
`add_well_keyword_event` previously emitted items in `keyword_data` dict
insertion order. Eclipse keywords such as WCONHIST are positional, so a
non-canonical order silently corrupted the simulator input.
`RifEventKeywordFormatter::formatKeyword` now walks the OPM
`ParserRecord` schema and emits items in canonical order, inserting
`1*` defaults for intermediate gaps and dropping trailing unspecified
items. Items that are not part of the keyword schema (e.g. mnemonic-list
keywords like RPTRST/RPTSCHED) are appended after the canonical block in
caller-supplied order to preserve existing behaviour.

Migrated to the templated base, preserving each collection's existing XML
field keyword for project-file backward compatibility:
- RimEnsembleFractureStatisticsCollection
- RimEclipseInputPropertyCollection
- RimPlotDataFilterCollection
- RimGeoMechContourMapViewCollection
- RimIntersectionResultsDefinitionCollection
- RimCustomObjectiveFunctionCollection
- RimStimPlanModelTemplateCollection
- RimEnsembleWellLogsCollection
- RimEclipseContourMapViewCollection
- RimSeismicViewCollection
- RimGridInfoCollection
- RimEclipseStatisticsCaseCollection
- RimWellIASettingsCollection
- RimVfpDataCollection
External callers that accessed the old public/named array fields directly
(RimEclipseInputPropertyCollection::inputProperties,
RimEclipseStatisticsCaseCollection::cases) now use addItem/items() from
the base. RimCustomObjectiveFunction.h replaced its include of the
collection header with a forward declaration to break the new include
cycle introduced by the migration.
Switch the message parameter from const QString& to std::string_view so
callers with std::string in hand no longer need a QString::fromStdString
wrapper. The internal duration formatting still uses QString::arg, fed
from a single QString::fromUtf8 conversion.
Callers passing QString locals are updated with .toStdString() at the
call site.
Move the QMessageBox-displaying helper out of the logging utility into a
dedicated UI class. RiaLogging.h no longer pulls QMessageBox/QWidget into
the ~270 files that include it. Behavior is preserved: showError displays
the dialog when running interactively (and not under regression tests),
then forwards the text to RiaLogging::error.
Read the ROFF "subgrids.nLayers" array and expand it into a 1-based per-cell integer property (SUBGRIDS) so ROFF zonation becomes a regular grid property. If a companion "subgrids.names" array is present, zone names are surfaced as category code-names via the existing color-legend flow.
Expose RimColorLegendCollection and RimColorLegend to Python via
CAF_PDM_OBJECT_METHOD entries that let callers create a legend, append
category items with a hex-string color, bind a legend to a (case,
resultName) pair and delete that binding.
Scriptable fields on RimColorLegend and RimColorLegendItem make the
created objects inspectable from Python.
The (case, resultName) binding interface in RimColorLegendCollection,
RimRegularLegendConfig and RimEclipseCellColors now takes a const RimCase*
instead of a case id, matching the caller patterns and avoiding ambiguity
when multiple cases share an id domain.
