* Some are no longer flaky or easily fixed
* Some are out of date or test things we can't do accurately (scroll
position) and are removed.
* Unwinds some uppy tests and makes sure all promises and runloops are
resolved.
Everything has been run in legacy/ember cli multiple times to ensure no
obvious suite regressions.
This is now the default in newer node versions. The code that fails is a
workaround for another error :'(
This also upgrades `chrome-launcher` which helpers with debugging.
It does this by creating a new initializer that runs every time the app
is booted to track the current test. Then after each test, we see if the
app needs to be torn down.
This creates a helper function with all the cleanup tasks we need to do
after tests, then makes sure to call it after tests that previously
weren't.
This fixes a lot of flakey tests.
* The current evaluation of uppy promises is causing the entire suite to fail
if there's an exception. Instead of using `done` we use the simpler
pattern of returning the promise from the test to force Qunit to wait
until it's completed.
* In some browser conditions `/last.json` will be requested depending on the
particular scroll / performance. This causes the tests not to fail if
that is the case.
* Keyboard shortcuts were not being fully cleared between runs,
resulting in tests failures.
This is quite complex as it means that in production we have to build
Ember CLI test files and allow them to be used by our Rails application.
There is a fair bit of glue we can remove in the future once we move to
Ember CLI completely.
This fixes an issue CvX found on PR #14666 where a previous fix
overwrote a computed property.
The better fix (as is often the case with Ember) is to remove an
observer and call methods when things change ourselves.
On new macs, `localhost` resolves to IPV6 of `::1` and unfortunately
unicorn doesn't bind to IPv6 by default.
This seems to be the path of least resistance. By using 127.0.0.1 we
force IPv4 which works great.
This happens because the state of `canLoadMore` is not cleared as the
refresh occurs, which is enough to make the page think a footer should
be displayed.
No tests here because it's tricky to test refreshing and none of our
existing acceptance tests seem to.
This is my second try at this. The first b246a63a59 raised an issue
with the event delegation not working because the topic id changed.
This adds support for delegating events to dynamic keys by passing a
function where a static key would normally be needed. This means that
each timeline will have its own unique state key and events will only
delegate to the proper topic.
We've observed an error where the back button is displayed improperly in
the topic timeline. It's unfortunately been hard to reproduce but we
suspect it's related to leftover state when re-rendering.
This fix optimistically tries to fix the error by introducing the
topic's id to the unique key the widgets use for state. We can deploy
this and keep an eye out for the bug in the future.
This was problematic if something like SCSS file throws an error as the
app would tell Ember CLI to bootstrap as if everything is fine and not
display the error.
The fix is to only hijack the rendering at the end of the template
instead of the beginning.
There are a few fixes at play here:
1) We were still not initializing objects to the correct types.
2) If a debounce timed out, it was returning a string instead of an
array which was not appropriately handled.
3) In testing mode we never cancel the search promise for stability.
This adds a new property, `pluginId` which you can pass to `modifyClass`
which prevent the class from being modified over and over again.
This also includes a fix for polls which was leaking state between tests
which this new functionality exposed.
Whenever we `subscribe` to something there should be an equivalent
`unsubscribe` and this implements it for `LogsNotice`.
In the future we should make this closer to what Ember expects a Service
to be, but at least it's properly cleaning up after itself now.
This adds an optional ENV variable, `EMBER_CLI_PROD_ASSETS`. If truthy,
compiling production assets will be done via Ember CLI and will replace
the assets Rails would otherwise use.
When declaring your widget you can now add an option like: `services: ['cool']`
And your widget instances will automatically get a `this.cool` property
which will resolve to the service. This saves having to look it up
yourself.
This is confusing because you're running the tests on the older version
of Ember. Use `/tests` for Ember CLI, and `/qunit` when using Rails'
asset pipeline (but only if REALLY necessary!)
We have CSS animations which depend on the timeline/progress being
completely cleared when navigating from one topic directly to another.
This always worked because our loading component would clear the entire page
between topics but with our new experimental loading component the DOM was being
re-used.
This patch ensures that the timeline is removed completely from the DOM
if the topic changes.
The `bootstrap.json` contains most preloaded information but some routes
provide extra information, such as invites.
This fixes the issue by having the preload request pass on the preloaded
data from the source page, which is then merged with the bootstrap's
preloaded data for the final HTML payload.
Before this fix if your forum was set up with a subfolder and you
clicked on a link to a different subfolder it would not work. For
example:
subfolder: /cool
link is: /about-us
Previously it would try to resolve /about-us as /cool/about-us. With
this fix it redirects to /about-us correctly.
In Ember CLI addons get put into the vendor bundle, as opposed to their
own bundle like we're doing in the Rails app. We never use pretty-text
without our vendor bundle so this should have no difference on
performance.
We need to keep the pretty-text bundle for server side cooking.
In Ember CLI, the vendor bundler includes Ember/jQuery, so this brings
our app closer to that configuration.
We have a couple pages (Reset Password / Confirm New Email) where we need
`ember_jquery` without vendor so the file still exists for those cases.
Some people have noticed that if we change the packages in package.json
that they have to manually run `yarn install` or Discourse won't work.
This adds `yarn install` to the `bin/ember-cli` helper we run. It seems
quite fast if there is nothing to install so it shouldn't hurt to do
this every time we start the server.
The problem was we were setting the properties then immediately calling
`refreshRoute` which was being executed before the properties were
settled via the runloop.
This is two fixes:
1. Ember CLI's proxy did not support 3xx redirects so a redirect was
failing.
2. We were not passing query parameters to the `bootstrap.json` endpoint
to correctly handle previewing themes (and other occasional options.)
This patch remembers the last id for the `file-change` event and uses it
to initialize the client side watcher. This should help fix the issue
where styles are not reloaded client side if the browser refreshed.
Normally we'd use `ember-auto-import` for this, but it's not run on
our admin tree due to the quirky way we load it conditionally.
Instead we'll append it at the bottom like our Rails app does.
We really want to encourage all developers to use Ember CLI for local
development and testing. This will display an error page if they are not
with instructions on how to start the local server.
To disable it, you can set `NO_EMBER_CLI=1` as an ENV variable

* DEV: Improve Ember CLI's bootstrap logic
Instead of having Ember CLI know which URLs to proxy or not, have it try
the URL with a special header `HTTP_X_DISCOURSE_EMBER_CLI`. If present,
and Discourse thinks we should bootstrap the application, it will
instead stop rendering and return a HTTP HEAD with a response header
telling Ember CLI to bootstrap.
In other words, any time Rails would otherwise serve up the HTML for the
Ember app, it stops and says "no, you do it."
* DEV: Support asset filters by path using a new options object
Without this, Ember CLI's bootstrap would not get the assets it wants
because the path it was requesting was different than the browser path.
This adds an optional request header to fix it.
So far this is only used by the styleguide.
I noticed this while trying to debug slow performing ember tests.
Our docking mixin sometimes sets timers but never cancels them when
removed. I'm not sure of any errors this causes but we should be tidying
up whenever the component is removed.
You can enable this by using the `includePostAttributes` API call with
the value of `topicMap`. This will always show the topic map at the top
of a topic regardless of how many posts there are.
There are a lot of little fixes to tests here, but the biggest issue was
too much recursion because we kept replacing the helpers over and over
again. I assume Chrome has tail recursion or something to speed this up
but Firefox hated it.
Otherwise, we can't rely on the order of attributes in rendered HTML so
I simplified most of those tests to just look for key strings in the
HTML that are rendered.
* DEV: Use custom tags rather than handlebars server side
These will be skipped if they are ever rendered in a document. The
handlebars really messes stuff up.
* DEV: Build our own locale file for testing purposes
We can't practically proxy everything in test mode, but we can
approximate the logic and build our own locale file for testing purposes
that works quite well. This allows us to run tests without a proxy.
