Trust work that was pushed recently requires few changes in unit
tests to prevent test failures. This patch also removes repetitive
construction of group DN in group unit tests.
IPA server web form-based authentication allows logins for users
which for some reason cannot use Kerberos authentication. However,
when a password for such users expires, they are unable change the
password via web interface.
This patch adds a new WSGI script attached to URL
/ipa/session/change_password which can be accessed without
authentication and which provides password change capability
for web services.
The actual password change in the script is processed by LDAP
password change command.
Password result is passed both in the resulting HTML page, but
also in HTTP headers for easier parsing in web services:

installation even though the sebools were already set to the new
value.

From IPA 3.0, persistent search is a preferred mechanism for new DNS
zone detection and is also needed for other features (DNSSEC, SOA
serial updates).
Enable psearch and make sure connections attribute is right. This
step is done just once for a case when user switched the persistent
search back to disabled on purpose.
ipa-upgradeconfig was updated to accept --debug option in case
somebody would want to see debug messages.
From IPA version 3.0, the persistent search is a preferred mechanism
to for DNS zone list management. It will be also a requirement for
several bind-dyndb-ldap features, like SOA serial automatic updates
or DNSSEC.

When IPA package is being updated, some of the configuration files
are also updated. Sometimes it may be useful to store upgrade meta
information for next package upgrades. For example an information
that some config file was already updated and we don't want to
update it again if user purposedly reverted the change.
This patch adds a new StateFile in /var/lib/ipa/sysupgrade which
is capable of holding this information. New sysupgrade.py module
was created to provide simple API to access the upgrade state
information.
When no user/group was found, migration plugin reported an ambiguous
error about invalid container. But the root cause may be for example
in a wrong list of user/group objectclasses. Report both in the error
message to avoid user confusion.
User/group objectclass attribute is now also marked as required.
Without the list of objectclasses, an invalid LDAP search is
produced.

For security reasons, dynamic updates are not enabled for new DNS
zones. In order to enable the dynamic zone securely, user needs to
allow dynamic updates and create a zone update policy.
The policy is not easy to construct for regular users, we should
rather fill it by default and let users just switch the policy
on or off.

Precallback validator was failing when a zone-relative name was
used as a NS record (for example record "ns" in a zone "example.com").
However, this is valid in BIND and we should allow it as well.
Imports in dns module had to be switched to absolute imports
(available from Python 2.5) to deal with a conflict of IPA dns
module and dnspython module.

When permission-find post callback detected a --pkey-only option,
it just terminated. However, this way the results that could have
been added from aci_find matches were not included.
Fix the post callback to go through the entire matching process.
Also make sure that DNS permissions have a correct objectclass

permission LDAP search.

Kerberos ticket maximum life was being set to 1 hour which then
affected lifetime of Kerberos tickets returned by IPA server under
the test.
Make sure that the policy is reset before and after the unit test to
keep the IPA server settings clean and not to disrupt development
environment.
When default server was being parsed from IPA's default.conf
configuration file, the parsed server was not appended correctly to
the default_server list.
IPA client and server tool set used authconfig acutil module to
for client DNS operations. This is not optimal DNS interface for
several reasons:
- does not provide native Python object oriented interface
but but rather C-like interface based on functions and
structures which is not easy to use and extend
- acutil is not meant to be used by third parties besides
authconfig and thus can break without notice
Replace the acutil with python-dns package which has a feature rich
interface for dealing with all different aspects of DNS including
DNSSEC. The main target of this patch is to replace all uses of
acutil DNS library with a use python-dns. In most cases, even
though the larger parts of the code are changed, the actual
functionality is changed only in the following cases:
- redundant DNS checks were removed from verify_fqdn function
in installutils to make the whole DNS check simpler and
less error-prone. Logging was improves for the remaining

python-ldap add_s method raises a NO_SUCH_OBJECT exception when
a parent entry of the entry being added does not exist. This may
not be an error, for example NIS entries are only added when NIS
is enabled and thus the NIS entry container exists.
The exception raised by python-ldap is also incorrectly processed
in ipaldap's addEntry function and an irrelevant exception is
re-raised instead.
Fix LDAP updater to just log an information when an object cannot
be added due to missing parent object. Also make sure that the
addEntry function exception processing provides the right exception
with a useful description.

When python's distutils build process prepares python scripts, it use
current Python interpreter in an updated shebang for python scripts.
Since Makefile did not use absolute path to python interpreter, it
may be translated to "/bin/python" in Fedora 17 which is then taken
by rpmbuild as freeipa-admintools dependency. This can break of F-17
python package which provides just "/usr/bin/python"
This patch updates Makefile to use a correct absolute path to python
interpreter which is then filled to freeipa scripts shebang and rpm
Requires list. The value is taken from RPM __python macro so that
we do not hardcode it.

IPA server of version 2.2 and higher supports Kerberos S4U2Proxy
delegation, i.e. ipa command no longer forwards Kerberos TGT to the
server during authentication. However, when IPA client of version
2.2 and higher tries to join an older IPA server, the installer
crashes because the pre-2.2 server expects the TGT to be forwarded.
This patch adds a fallback to ipa-client-install which would detect
this situation and tries connecting with TGT forwarding enabled
again. User is informed about this incompatibility.
Missing realm was also added to keytab kinit as it was reported to
fix occasional install issues.

Password policy plugin sorts password policies by its COS priority.
However, when the pwpolicy-find command is run with --pkey-only,
the resulting entries do not contain COS priority and the sort
function crashes.
This patch makes sure that cospriority is present in the time
of the result sorting process and removes the cospriority again
when the sorting is done. This way, the entries are sorted properly
both with and without --pkey-only flag.
Previous entries_sortfn member attribute of LDAPSearch class
containing custom user sorting function was replaced just with
a flag indicating if a sorting in LDAPSearch shall be done at all.
This change makes it possible to sort entries in a custom
post_callback which is much more powerful (and essential for
sorting like in pwpolicy plugin) approach than a plain sorting
function.

When 2 groups in a remote LDAP server share the same GID number,
the migration may fail entirely with incomprehensible message. This
should not be taken as unrecoverable error - GID number check is
just a sanity check, a warning is enough. This patch also makes
sure that GID check warnings include a user name to make
an investigation easier.

queries when the server did not manage to return an entry

dnsrecord_add interactive mode did not work correctly when more

When dnsrecord-add or dnsrecord-mod commands are used on a root
zone record (it has a special name "@"), a zone name is returned
instead of a special name "@". This confuses DNS part of Web UI
which is then not able to manipulate records in the root zone
when these commands are used.

When IPA server is configured with DNS and its hostname is not
located in a default domain, SRV records are not valid.
Additionally, httpd does not serve XMLRPC interface because it
IPA server domain-realm mapping is missing in krb5.conf. All CLI
commands were then failing.
This patch amends this configuration. It fixes SRV records in
served domain to include full FQDN instead of relative hostname
when the IPA server hostname is not located in served domain.
IPA server forward record is also placed to correct zone.
When IPA server is not in a served domain a proper domain-realm
mapping is configured to krb5.conf. The template was improved
in order to be able to hold this information.

SELinux configuration for httpd instance was set for new
installations only. Upgraded IPA servers (namely 2.1.x -> 2.2.x
upgrade) missed the configuration. This lead to AVCs when httpd
tries to contact ipa_memcached and user not being able to log in.

in the same way as ipa-server-install does.

With a publicly accessible DNS tree in LDAP, anyone with an access
to the LDAP server can get all DNS data as with a zone transfer
which is already restricted with ACL. Making DNS tree not readable
to public is a common security practice and should be applied
in FreeIPA as well.
This patch adds a new deny rule to forbid access to DNS tree to
users or hosts without an appropriate permission or users which
are not members of admins group. The new permission/aci is
applied both for new installs and upgraded servers.
bind-dyndb-ldap plugin is allowed to read DNS tree without any
change because its principal is already a member of "DNS
Servers" privilege.

When user does not pass a name of parent map in
automountmap-add-indirect command, auto.master is used as
a default. However, when auto.master does not exist in a given
location, we raise NotFound error with a name of a location instead

UDP port checks in ipa-replica-conncheck are too strict. The entire
conncheck fails when UDP ports cannot be verified as open. However,
UDP protocol is unrealiable by its nature and the port can also not
be checked if there is an application already bound to it. This can
happen for example when ipa-replica-conncheck is run as a part of
ipa-ca-install and the replica services are thus already running.
This patch changes the behavior of UDP port checks. The conncheck
script now rather reports a warning that UDP port cannot be verified
but does not fail the entire test.

settings stored in LDAP which are then used for all enrolled IPA

When dnsrecord-del pre_callback detects that the record does
not contain any records, it sets a flag to connection context
and deletes the record object later. However, when more
dnsrecord-del commands share the same context (and this is
the case of "ipa-replica-manage del $MASTER" DNS cleanup), it
may reuse a positive flag from previous dnsrecord-del command
and delete the root DNS zone record and thus effectively delete
the zone.
This patch makes sure that this flag is always initialized to a
sane value in dnsrecord-del pre_callback to make sure that the DNS
zone is not deleted. It also fixes pre_callback function definition
to prevent adding attrs_list to "keys" parameter and thus confuse
developers.

The new version of python-ldap changed the way it created LDAPv3
extended controls. The API used in 2.4.x can no longer be used
because it does not send the bind DN with effective rights
control and LDAP server thus rejects it.

There were cases where DNS plugin was too tolerant in a raw DNS
record option (--<rrtype-rec) processing. It let people specify
DNS record parts options in dnsrecord-mod operations for some
record without specifying the record that should be updated. It
also ignored DNS record parts in dnsrecord-add operation when the
raw DNS record value was already set via --<rrtype>-rec option.
This patch hardens the processing and returns error in both
described cases to make the processes clearer and more robust.
All these use cases were also covered by new unit tests.

DNS plugin contains several RR type record validators run in
pre_callback which cannot be used as standard param validator
as it needs more data and resources that standard validators
provide. However, the precallback validators are not run for
DNS records created by new structured options and thus an invalid
value may slip in.

_after_ the processing of structured DNS options. It also cleans
them up a little and makes them more robust.

IPA winsync plugin failed to replicate users when default user group
was non-posix even though User Private Groups (UPG) were enabled
on the server. Both their uidNumber and gidNumber were empty and
they missed essential object classes. When the default user group
was made posix and UPG was disabled it did not set gidNumber to
the default group gidNumber.
This patch improves this behavior to set gidNumber correctly
according to UPG configuration and the default group status
(posix/non-posix). 4 situations can occur, the following list
specifies what value is assigned to user gidNumber:
1) Default group posix, UPG enabled: gidNumber = UPG gidNumber
2) Default group posix, UPG disabled: gidNumber = default
group gidNumber
3) Default group non-posix, UPG enabled: gidNumber = UPG gidNumber
4) Default group non-posix, UPG disabled: an error is printed to
the dirsrv log as the gidNumber cannot be retrieved. User
is replicated in the same way as before this patch, i.e.
without essential object classes.

New version of openldap (openldap-2.4.26-6.fc16.x86_64) changed its
ABI and broke our TLS connection in ipa-replica-manage. This makes
it impossible to connect for example to Active Directory to set up
a winsync replication. We always receive a connection error stating
that Peer's certificate is not recognized even though we pass
a correct certificate.
This patch fixes the way we set up TLS. The change is backwards
compatible with older versions of openldap.

Ticket #2274 implements a check for compat plugin and warns user if
it is enabled. However, there are 2 issues connected with the plugin:
1) The check is performed against the remote (migrated) LDAP server
and not the local LDAP server, which does not make much sense

raises an error and thus breaks the migration

Server framework calls acutil.res_send() to send DNS queries used
for various DNS tests. However, once acutil is imported it does
not change its list of configured resolvers even when
/etc/resolv.conf is changed. This may lead to unexpected
resolution issues.
We should at least reload httpd when we change /etc/resolv.conf to
point to FreeIPA nameserver to force a new import of acutil and
thus workaround this bug until it is resolved in authconfig.

user enters an invalid value, the entire interactive help exits
with an error. This may upset a user if he already entered several

When a replica is deleted, its memberPrincipal entries in
cn=s4u2proxy,cn=etc,SUFFIX were not removed. Then, if the replica
is reinstalled and connected again, the installer would report

DNS and host plugin does not work well with domain names ending
with dot. host plugin creates a record with two fqdn attributes
when such hostname is created which then has to be manually fixed.
DNS plugin handled zones with and without trailing dot as two
distinct zones, which may lead to issues when both zones are
created.
This patch sanitizes approach to FQDNs in both DNS and host plugin.
Hostnames are now always normalized to the form without trailing
dot as this form did not work before and it would keep hostname
form consistent without changes in our server/client enrollment
process.
As DNS zones always worked in both forms this patch rather makes
sure that the plugin works with both forms of one zone and prevents
creating 2 identical zones with just different format.

When an invalid record type is entered during dnsrecord-add
interactive mode, user is provided with a list of allowed values
(record types). However, the provided list contains also

client SSH fingerprints in SSHFP records. However, the update won't
work for zones created before this support was added as they don't

UDP port checks in ipa-replica-conncheck always returns OK even
if they are closed by a firewall. They cannot be reliably checked
in the same way as TCP ports as there is no session management as
in TCP protocol. We cannot guarantee a response on the checked
side without our own echo server bound to checked port.
This patch removes UDP port checks in replica->master direction
as we would have to implement (kerberos) protocol-wise check
to make the other side actually respond. A list of skipped
ports is printed for user.
Direction master->replica was fixed and now it is able to report
error when the port is blocked.

Adding reverse DNS record may be a time consuming task, especially
for IPv6 addresses. Having a way to automatically create a reverse
record when a forward record is created could speed up the process.
host-add command already has this possibility.
This patch takes advantage of the new per-type API and adds new
options for A/AAAA record types: --a-create-reverse and
--aaaa-create-reverse. These commands can be used to automatically
create reverse records for new A/AAAA addresses (both forward
and reverse zones need to be managed by FreeIPA server):
ipa dnsrecord-add example.com foo --a-rec=10.0.0.1 --a-create-reverse
This command would add a new A record to record foo in zone
example.com and a PTR record to appropriate reverse zone for
IP address 10.0.0.1 (for example PTR record 1 in zone
0.0.10.in-addr.arpa. pointing to foo.example.com.).
Few modification were done to new DNS API to support this feature:
- Refactor --ip-address option handling from host-add and place it
to dns.py to be used by both modules
- Add support for "extra" per-type options
- Hide DNS record part options in dnsrecord_find command as they
have no effect for this command

New version of bind-dyndb-ldap plugin have an ability to
automatically update machine reverse address when its forward
address is updated via GSS-TSIG update. The reverse zone must be
managed by FreeIPA as well in order of this feature to work.
As it would not be secure to enable this behaviour for all zones
there is a global attribute that can enable PTR sync for all zones
and also a per-zone attribute that can enable for chosen zones
only.

When a new DNS record is being added to DNS zone via command
ipa dnsrecord-add ZONE @
and the target ZONE does not exist it returns ObjectclassViolation
which may confuse users. Make sure that standard DNS Zone NotFound

Since A6 is an obsolete RR type, no DNS part option was created.
This is, however, not consistent with the rest of per-type API
and may cause problems. This patch adds at least a DNS part for
raw A6 record data so that the record type is treated consistently.
This patch also fixes interactive mode for A6 records. Their data
were not detected correctly as dnsrecord_add didn't expect
a number in DNS part option name.

NSEC record needs special treatment as it is not composed from
a fixed set of DNS parts divided by space, but it contains
a multivalued DNS part "types" containing a list of RR types
it covers.
There was already a special method for parsing raw NSEC record
to DNS parts, but the other direction was missing. This patch
adds special NSEC convertor to fix this issue.

TXT record validation fails to parse the record if it contains
spaces. Standard DNS part parser uses a space to divide record
parts. A special parser thus need to be implemented for this RR

All DNS record part options in dnsrecord commands need to be
optional so that all of them are not required in every dnsrecord
command. However, FreeIPA API then does not include an information
which DNS record part options are optional in term of creating
a new DNS record. For example, LOC record option "latitude seconds"
is not needed to add a new LOC record.
This patch adds a flag "dnsrecord_optional" to all such options so
that this information is available for any other UI reading the
FreeIPA API.

A server may have 2 or more NICs and its hostname may thus resolve
to 2 and more forward addresses. IP address checks in install
scripts does not expect this setup and may fail or crash.
This script adds a support for multiple forward addresses for
a hostname. The install scripts do not crash now. When one IP
address is needed, user is asked to choose from all detected
server IP addresses.

host-add command allows to add a host and its IP address via
--ip-address option. When the address is invalid, it throws
an error and refuses to operate. However, the invalid IP address
error message is always the same which is not right as it forces
a user to guess the reason of rejection (loopback address,
link-local address or invalid address at all was passed, etc.).

Having float type as a base type for floating point parameters in
ipalib introduces several issues, e.g. problem with representation
or value comparison. Python language provides a Decimal type which
help overcome these issues.
This patch replaces a float type and Float parameter with a
decimal.Decimal type in Decimal parameter. A precision attribute
was added to Decimal parameter that can be used to limit a number
of decimal places in parameter representation. This approach fixes
a problem with API.txt validation where comparison of float values
may fail on different architectures due to float representation error.
In order to safely transfer the parameter value over RPC it is
being converted to string which is then converted back to
decimal.Decimal number on a server side.

Let ipa-replica-prepare and ipa-replica-install work without
proper DNS records as records in /etc/hosts are sufficient for
DS replication.
1) ipa-replica-prepare now just checks if the replica hostname
is resolvable (DNS records are not required). It is now able
to prepare a replica file even when the replica IP address is
present in /etc/hosts only.
2) ipa-replica-install is now able to proceed when the hostname
is not resolvable. It uses an IP address passed in a new
option --ip-address to create a record in /etc/hosts in the
same way as ipa-server-install does.

ipalib API needs to be bootstrapped in 'installer' context otherwise

Call restart() methods of appropriate services instead of calling
the system service restart command directly as service() method
has a capability to wait until the service is fully up. Without
this patch ipa-replica-install crashed on F-16 because krb5kdc
service was started before dirsrv service was fully up.

Having a Parameter maxvalue larger that 2G makes Python convert it
to "long" type instead of "int" type. Our framework than fails to
bootstrap the API when it detects long integer in Parameter
maxvalue.
Remove the clashing maxvalue out entirely as we can't transfer
values larger than 2G anyway (xmlrpc limitation).

Use new structured DNSRecord parameters to generate per-type API
for all supported DNS RR types. This should help significantly
the end-user with manipulating complex DNS record type (MX, LOC,
etc.).
All enhancements are integrated to current DNS record commands:
1) dnsrecord-add
- Records can be either entered as a raw value (e.g. --mx-rec=
"1 srv1.example.com" for MX record) or per-part:
--mx-preference=1 --mx-exchanger=srv1.example.com
- CLI interactive help behavior was changed. It will ask for
a record type and then ask for all DNS record part values
(e.g. MX Preference value, MX Exchanger value).
2) dnsrecord-mod
- This command can now operate in 2 modes. When only a raw DNS
record is entered (e.g. --mx-rec="1 srv1.example.com") it
operates in standard mode and replaces any previous mxrecord
value with the --mx-rec value.
When any structured parameter (e.g. --mx-preference) is passed
it modifies just the specified parts of one mxrecord value
referred by --mx-rec:
--mx-rec="1 srv1.example.com" --mx-preference=2
- New interactive help has been implemented. It will ask for a
record to be modified (in the same manner as dnsrecord-del)
and then let user change DNS record part(s) for chosen
records.
3) All dnsrecord-* commands have now --structured option
- When this option is passed, instead of displaying raw DNS values
all DNS records are parsed and displayed per-part. Example:

Complex commands may have many options or non-standard output. This
patch adds 2 improvements to handle these commands better:
1) Add "option_group" parameter attribute
Make command help more readable by specifying an option group
for the parameter. All parameters in the same option group are
then placed to one named option group
2) Allow nested entries in the output
Current CLI output module cannot handle a list of nested entries
(dictionaries) contained in an entry attribute. Make sure they
are printed properly (with indentation)

CSV values were not parsed in ipalib.parameters.normalize method
properly when passed as a list and not as a basestring.

Current DNS record processing architecture has many flaws,
including custom execute() methods which does not take advantage
of base LDAP commands or nonstandard and confusing DNS record
option processing.
This patch refactors DNS record processing with the following
improvements:
* Every DNS record has now own Parameter type. Each DNS record
consists from one or more "parts" which are also Parameters.
This architecture will enable much easier implementation of
future per-DNS-type API.
* Validation is now not written as a separate function for
every parameter but is delegated to DNS record parts.
* Normalization is also delegated to DNS record parts.
* Since standard LDAP base commands execute method is now used,
dnsrecord-add and dnsrecord-mod correctly supports --setattr
and --addattr options.
* In order to prevent confusion unsupported DNS record types
are now hidden. They are still present in the plugin so that
old clients receive proper validation error.
The patch also contains several fixes:
* Fix domain-name validation and normalization- allow domain
names that are not fully qualified. For example --cname-rec=bar
is a valid domain-name for bind which will translate it then
as bar.<owning-domain>. This change implies, that fully qualified
domain names must end with '.'.
* Do not let user accidentally remove entire zone with command
"ipa dnsrecord-del @ --del-all".
* Fix --ttl and --class option processing in dnsrecord-add and
dnsrecord-mod.
All API changes are compatible with clients without this patch.
