To do this we need to break the link manually on both sides, the user and
the group.
We also have to verify in advance that the user performing this is allowed
to do both. Otherwise the user could be decoupled but not the group
leaving it in a quasi broken state that only ldapmodify could fix.

The remove member function in baseldap was not returning failures at all.
The add member function was only showing them in the group object.
Most of the magic is handled in baseldap. Each plugin just needs to define
object_name and object_name_plural. object_name must be all lower-case
because fake-attributes are created so membership can be broken out
per-object type. I left the plural name lower case as well.

The pattern validator by default displays the pattern that is being
matched against. This isn't helpful, particularly for very hairy patterns.
This adds a new parameter, pattern_errmsg, that is displayed on errors
if set.

This also requires a resolvable hostname on services as well. I want
people to think long and hard about adding things that aren't resolvable.
The cert plugin can automatically create services on the user's behalf when
issuing a cert. It will always set the force flag to True.
We use a lot of made-up host names in the test system, all of which require
the force flag now.

When a service has a certificate and the CA backend doesn't support
revocation (like selfsign) then we simply drop the old certificate in
preparation for adding a new one. We weren't setting the usercertificate
attribute to None so there was nothing to do in ldap_update().
Added a test case for this situation to ensure that re-issuing a certificate
works.

It would work if you ran the test from its location in tests/test_ipalib
but this isn't the most common method. If you want to run it individually
you can do:
$ ./make-test tests/test_ipalib/test_text.py
The entitlement entries themselves will be rather simple, consisting
of the objectClasses ipaObject and pkiUser. We will just store
userCertificate in it. The DN will contain the UUID of the entitlement.

This patch:
- bumps up the minimum version of python-nss
- will initialize NSS with nodb if a CSR is loaded and it isn't already
init'd
- will shutdown NSS if initialized in the RPC subsystem so we use right db
- updated and added a few more tests
Relying more on NSS introduces a bit of a problem. For NSS to work you
need to have initialized a database (either a real one or no_db). But once
you've initialized one and want to use another you have to close down the
first one. I've added some code to nsslib.py to do just that. This could
potentially have some bad side-effects at some point, it works ok now.
When the netgroup plugin was rebased it ended up using the member
attribute for its memberships and not memberuser/memberhost.
I also fixed this same attribute problem in the tests and tried to beef
them up a little. If nis/schema compat are enabled it will try to compare
the generated triplets with a known-good value.
This was originally configured to pull from the compat area but Nalin
thinks that is a bad idea (and it stopped working anyway). This configures
the netgroup map to create the triples on its own.
Ticket #87
Neither of these was working properly, I assume due to changes in the ldap
backend. The normalizer now appends the basedn if it isn't included and
this was causing havoc with these utilities.
After fixing the basics I found a few corner cases that I also addressed:
- you can't/shouldn't disable compat if the nis plugin is enabled
- we always want to load the nis LDAP update so we get the netgroup config
- LDAPupdate.update() returns True/False, not an integer
I took some time and fixed up some things pylint complained about too.

This patch does the following:
- drops our in-tree x509v3 parser to use the python-nss one
- return more information on certificates
- make an API change, renaming cert-get to cert-show
- Drop a lot of duplicated code
I have to do some pretty low-level LDAP work to achieve this. Since
we can't read the key using our modlist generator won't work and lots of
tricks would be needed to use the LDAPUpdate object in any case.
I pulled usercertificate out of the global params and put into each
appropriate function because it makes no sense for service-disable.
This also adds a new variable, has_keytab, to service/host_show output.
This flag tells us whether there is a krbprincipalkey.
Add an optional search_attributes variable in case the attributes you
want to display by default aren't what you want to search on.
Also link in any cn=ipaconfig attributes that contain a comma-separated
list of attributes to search on.
This started as an effort to display a more useful error message in the
Apache error log if retrieving the schema failed. I broadened the scope
a little to include limiting the output in the Apache error log
so errors are easier to find.
This adds a new configuration option, startup_traceback. Outside of
lite-server.py it is False by default so does not display the traceback
that lead to the StandardError being raised. This makes the mod_wsgi
error much easier to follow.
This uses a new 389-ds plugin, Managed Entries, to automatically create
a group entry when a user is created. The DNA plugin ensures that the
group has a gidNumber that matches the users uidNumber. When the user is
removed the group is automatically removed as well.
If the managed entries plugin is not available or if a specific, separate
range for gidNumber is passed in at install time then User-Private Groups
will not be configured.
The code checking for the Managed Entries plugin may be removed at some
point. This is there because this plugin is only available in a 389-ds
alpha release currently (1.2.6-a4).
The migration plugin uses a pre-op function to automatically create
kerberos credentials when binding using a password.
The problem is that we do a simple bind when doing password-base
host enrollment. This was causing krbPasswordExpiration to be set
which isn't what we want for hosts. They really shouldn't go through
this code at all.
Whenever we upgrade IPA such that any data incompatibilities might occur
then we need to bump the DATA_VERSION value so that data will not
replicate to other servers. The idea is that you can do an in-place
upgrade of each IPA server and the different versions own't pollute
each other with bad data.
The problem was trying to operate directly on the ACI itself. I
introduced a new function, _aci_to_kw(), that converts an ACI
into a set of keywords. We can take these keywords, like those passed
in when an ACI is created, to merge in any changes and then re-create the
ACI.
I also switched the ACI tests to be declarative and added a lot more
cases around the modify operation.
serviceName was originally part of the HBAC rules. We dropped it
to use a separate service object instead so we could more easily
do groups of services in rules.
We need the configured kerberos realm so we can clean up /etc/krb5.keytab.
We have this already in /etc/ipa/default.conf so use that instead of
requiring a whole other python package to do it.
This causes the installation to blow up badly otherwise.
To remove an existing instance run:
# pkiremove -pki_instance_root=/var/lib -pki_instance_name=pki-ca
If it does then the installation will fail trying to set up the
keytabs, and not in a way that you say "aha, it's because the host is
already enrolled."
This disables all but the ldapi listener in DS so it will be quiet when
we perform our upgrades. It is expected that any other clients that
also use ldapi will be shut down by other already (krb5 and dns).
Add ldapi as an option in ipaldap and add the beginning of pure offline
support (e.g. direct editing of LDIF files).
I couldn't put the dogtag rules into the spec file until we required
dogtag as a component. If it wasn't pre-loaded them the rules loading
would fail because types would be missing.
If this ever gets out of sync the user can always remove
/var/lib/ipa-client/sysrestore/*, they just need to understand the
implications.
One potential problem is with certmonger. If you install the client
and then re-install without uninstalling then the subsequent
certificate request by certmonger will fail because it will already
be tracking a certificate in /etc/pki/nssdb of the same nickname and
subject (the old cert).
- Move the ipa-getcert request to after we set up /etc/krb5.conf
- Don't try removing certificates that don't exist
- Don't tell certmonger to stop tracking a cert that doesn't exist
- Allow --password/-w to be the kerberos password
- Print an error if prompting for a password would happen in unattended mode
- Still support echoing a password in when in unattended mode
Also re-arrange some code around reading the configuration file. In trying
to eliminate bogus error messages I prevented the file from being read at all.
It isn't a problem when joining with ipa-client (which uses -s) but it wouldn't
work if you don't pass in a server name.
This is to make initial installation and testing easier.
Use the --no_hbac_allow option on the command-line to disable this when
doing an install.
To remove it from a running server do: ipa hbac-del allow_all
We have had a state file for quite some time that is used to return
the system to its pre-install state. We can use that to determine what
has been configured.
This patch:
- uses the state file to determine if dogtag was installed
- prevents someone from trying to re-install an installed server
- displays some output when uninstalling
- re-arranges the ipa_kpasswd installation so the state is properly saved
- removes pkiuser if it was added by the installer
- fetches and installs the CA on both masters and clients
The old perl DS code for detection didn't set this so was often confused
about port availability. We had to match their behavior so the installation
didn't blow up. They fixed this a while ago, this catches us up.
Summaries were appearing as "Gettext(...")
Embedded dictionaries, such as group membership failures, didn't have
labels so were basically just being dumped.
- Don't run nscd if using sssd, the caching of nscd conflicts with sssd
- Set the minimum version of sssd to 1.1.1 to pick up needed hbac fixes
- only try to read the file configuration if the server isn't passed in
- Fetch the CA cert before running certmonger
- Delete entries from the keytab before removing /etc/krb5.conf
- Add and remove the IPA CA to /etc/pki/nssdb
When using the dogtag CA we can control what the subject of an issued
certificate is regardless of what is in the CSR, we just use the CN value.
The selfsign CA does not have this capability. The subject format must
match the configured format or certificate requests are rejected.
The default format is CN=%s,O=IPA. certmonger by default issues requests
with just CN so all requests would fail if using the selfsign CA.
This subject base is stored in cn=ipaconfig so we can just fetch that
value in the enrollment process and pass it to certmonger to request
the right thing.
Note that this also fixes ipa-join to work with the new argument passing
mechanism.
- cache all interactive answers
- set non-interactive to True for the second run so nothing is asked
- convert boolean values that are read in
- require absolute paths for the external CA and signed cert files
- fix the invocation message for the second ipa-server-install run
We set a new port to be used with dogtag but IPA doesn't utilize it.
This also changes the way we determine which security database to use.
Rather than using whether api.env.home is set use api.env.in_tree.
Since one needs to enable the compat plugin we will enable anonymous
VLV when that is configured.
By default the DS installs an aci that grants read access to ldap:///all
and we need ldap:///anyone
Also print out a restart message after applying the custom subject.
It takes a while to restart dogtag and this lets the user know things
are moving forward.
This error could result in things not working properly but it should be
relatively easy to fix from the command-line. There is no point in
not installing at all due to this.
This creates a new role, replicaadmin, so a non-DM user can do
limited management of replication agreements.
Note that with cn=config if an unauthorized user performs a search
an error is not returned, no entries are returned. This makes it
difficult to determine if there are simply no replication agreements or
we aren't allowed to see them. Once the ipaldap.py module gets
replaced by ldap2 we can use Get Effective Rights to easily tell the
difference.
This will alert the user that nothing was done and is handy when used
with --attr=''. This can be used to delete a non-required attribute but
can be set to any valid attribute, present or not. We should alert the
user if they attempt to delete a non-existant value.
