22765990f0 Allow skipping anchor checking by regex 
To avoid needing to turn off anchor checking across the entire
documentation allow skipping based on matching the anchor against a
regex.

Some sites/pages use JavaScript to perform anchor assignment in a
webpage, which would require rendering the page to determine whether
the anchor exists. Allow fine grain control of whether the anchor is
checked based on pattern matching, until such stage as the retrieved
URLs can be passed through an engine for deeper checking on the HTML
doctree.

b8e0e935e4 Improve LaTeX footnotes (#3022) 
Allow code-blocks in footnotes for LaTeX PDF output.

This is done via using a ``footnote environment``, provided by LaTeX
package footnotehyper which replaces old problematic package footnote.
No need to ship a custom tabulary anymore.

The footnote markers are silently removed from the table of contents and
do not end in the PDF bookmarks (the old code in ``sphinx.sty`` copying
``footmisc.sty`` was not satisfactory and has been deleted and replaced
by use of better ``\sphinxfootnotemark``.) Footnotes can be used also in
captions of literal blocks.

673222f20a Added Tests for latex(pdf) links to captioned or named literal blocks 
As conf.py has now numfig = True, needed to modify accordingly test for
links in html output.

This topic branch fixes #2405, #2414, and also makes for latex(pdf)
functional hyperlinks to named references, but only for literal blocks
(code-block or literalinclude).

46138ca605 Select an image by similarity if multiple images are globbed by `.. image:: filename.*` 
Until this point, it is used the last image returned from glob.glob().
The order of glob.glob() is determined by filesystem.
After this, Sphinx uses filename similarity to determine the image.

de356149cd Test for bug #2298: automodule fails to document a class attribute 
This test case demonstrates a bug, where automodule:: with option
:members: fails to document a class attribute of a class, that was
imported into the documented module.

This commit extends test_ext_viewcode, instead of creating a separate
test module, because the development guide recommends it for performance
reasons.

76e29ca5b3 Use "align" environment to wrap math equations instead of "gather" 
Using align brings the benefit when multiple math equations are in one
math directive, alignment is provided. We also use "aligned" to wrap the
equations since in this way all the equations will be given only one
label/tag, while previously only the first equation is labeled.

14f58e6619 `sphinx.ext.graphviz`: show graph image in inline by default 
To support subsutituion syntax, make graphviz node inline (ref: #1149).
Now graphviz directive behaves like ``image`` directive when no captions.
If specified, it generates ``figure`` node and ``caption`` node like
``figure`` directive.

62c49763f8 Fix broken TOC of PDFs if section includes an image 
If someone adds an image to a section it will be added to the sidebar
TOC of a PDF, too. A PDF viewer will show the "width and height"
data instead of an image. So we need to filter out images for this with
the optional "short title" of latex sections.

88103c112a Fix #1603 :numref: doesn't work correctly when label contain underscore 
If label contains underscore, the underscores are replaced with hyphens on normalization.
:numref: confuses the normalization with explicit notation.
This fix uses `target` variable insted of labelid to check the role is explicit or not.

d47a7587f9 Complete test suite overhaul. 
* rename a few test modules to make the names more consistent

* do not copy/use Sphinx from build/ (unnecessary without 2to3)

* use a temporary dir for *all* test projects, the source tree
  will stay pristine that way  (default is tests/build)

* speed up tests by ~3x by splitting up test projects and avoiding
  rebuilds

43a9881c4b Fix i18n: missing python domain's cross-references with currentmodule directive or currentclass directive. refs #1363 
* node attributes 'py:module', 'py:class' is provided from environment (e.x. currentmodule directive is provided on previous line, not on node)
* Because translation nodes are parsed in independently, 'provided attributes by environment' are not exist.
* For a pending_xref nodes, all attributes of a translated xref node should be same as original xref node in current test cases.
* For the above reasons, I overwrite all attributes from origonal node to new translated xref node.
