Commit f253dc90f5 introduced a test regression in environments with
Xen < 4.10. The logic in libxl_conf.c correctly maps ACPI and APIC
from virDomainObj to libxl_domain_conf based on
LIBXL_HAVE_BUILDINFO_APIC, but the tests did not account for the
different libxl_domain_conf JSON representations.
One approach to fixing the test regression is to duplicate JSON test
data files, having one set for Xen <= 4.9 and another for Xen 4.10
and greater. To avoid duplicate data files, this patch takes the
approach of modifying the libxl_domain_conf object based on
LIBXL_HAVE_BUILDINFO_APIC, before retrieving the JSON representation.
It allows using the same test data files for all supported versions
of Xen by adjusting the intermediate form of libxl_domain_conf object
as needed.

By default Xen only allows guests to write "known safe" values into PCI
configuration space, yet many devices require writes to other areas of
the configuration space in order to operate properly. To allow writing
any values Xen supports the 'permissive' setting, see xl.cfg(5) man page.
This change models Xen's permissive setting by adding a writeFiltering
attribute on the <source> element of a PCI hostdev. When writeFiltering
is set to 'no', the Xen permissive setting will be enabled and guests
will be able to write any values into the device's configuration space.
The permissive setting remains disabled in the absense of the
writeFiltering attribute, of if it is explicitly set to 'yes'.

The default state of disabled prevents hotlugging PCI devices. However,
if the guest configuration contains a PCI passthrough device at time of

hotplugging of PCI devices will also be possible. It is not possible to

The ordering of lock manager locks in the libxl driver has a flaw that was
uncovered by a migration error path. In the perform phase of migration, the
source host calls virDomainLockProcessPause to release the lock before
sending the VM to the destination host. If the send fails an attempt is made
to reacquire the lock with virDomainLockProcessResume, but that too can fail
if the destination host has not finished cleaning up the failed VM and
releasing the lock it acquired when starting to receive the VM.
This change delays calling virDomainLockProcessResume in libxlDomainStart
until the VM is successfully created, but before it is unpaused. A similar
approach is used by the qemu driver, avoiding the need to release the lock
if VM creation fails. In the migration perform phase, releasing the lock
with virDomainLockProcessPause is delayed until the VM is successfully
sent to the destination, which avoids reacquiring the lock if the send
fails.

Commit a3ab6d42 changed the libvirtd profile to a named profile,
breaking the apparmor driver's ability to detect if the profile is
active. When the apparmor driver loads it checks the status of the
libvirtd profile using the full binary path, which fails since the
profile is now referenced by name. If the apparmor driver is
explicitly requested in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf, then libvirtd fails
to load too.
Instead of only checking the profile status by full binary path,
also check by profile name. The full path check is retained in case
users have a customized libvirtd profile with full path.

Commit a3ab6d42 changed the libvirtd profile to a named profile
but neglected to accommodate the change in the qemu profile
ptrace and signal rules. As a result, libvirtd is unable to
signal confined qemu processes and hence unable to shutdown
or destroy VMs.
Add ptrace and signal rules that reference the libvirtd profile
by name in addition to full binary path.

Upstream apparmor is switching to named profiles. In short,
/usr/sbin/dnsmasq {
becomes
profile dnsmasq /usr/sbin/dnsmasq {
Consequently, any profiles that reference profiles in a peer= condition
need to be updated if the referenced profile switches to a named profile.
Apparmor commit 9ab45d81 switched dnsmasq to a named profile. ATM it is
the only named profile switch that has affected libvirt. Add rules to the
libvirtd profile to reference dnsmasq in peer= conditions by profile name.

potential host DoS issue mentioned in /domain/memoryBacking/locked

This patch improves the <hard_limit> text by clarifying it can be used
to prevent "host crashing" when VM memory is locked.

static void xen_hvm_crash_shutdown(struct pt_regs *regs)
{
native_machine_crash_shutdown(regs);
xen_reboot(SHUTDOWN_soft_reset);

but currently the libxl driver does not handle the soft reset

This patch adds support for handling the soft reset event by

The preferred location for setting the nested CPU flag changed in
Xen 4.10 and is advertised via the LIBXL_HAVE_BUILDINFO_NESTED_HVM
define. Commit 95d19cd0 changed libxl to use the new preferred
location but unconditionally changed the tests, causing 'make check'
failures against Xen < 4.10 that do not contain the new location.
Commit e94415d5 fixed the failures by only running the tests when
LIBXL_HAVE_BUILDINFO_NESTED_HVM is defined. Since libvirt supports
several versions of Xen that use the old nested location, it is
prudent to test the flag is set correctly. This patch reintroduces
the tests for the legacy location of the nested setting.

LIBXL_API_VERSION to 0x040500, which is the API version defined
when Xen 4.6 was released.
Since Xen 4.6 contains a pkgconfig file, drop the now unused code
that falls back to using LIBVIRT_CHECK_LIB in the absence of

Unfortunately the call to remove the FILE from the hash table occurs
after setting domid=-1 in the libxlDomainCleanup() function. The
