We are getting the list of domains and after that we iterate over the list and try to get status for each domain hoping it will skip over domains that disappeared meanwhile. However, this solution to race is bogus - domain may disappear right after we have checked its state and before we exec another API over it (e.g. virDomainHasManagedSaveImage()). Also, when printing just names or uuids (list --name / --uuid) we issue APIs to obtain the values, however these require no RPC call as all requested info is in virDomain object that client already has. LibVirt : simple API for virtualization
Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities
of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). It is free software
available under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Virtualization of
the Linux Operating System means the ability to run multiple instances of
Operating Systems concurrently on a single hardware system where the basic
resources are driven by a Linux instance. The library aim at providing
long term stable C API initially for the Xen paravirtualization but
should be able to integrate other virtualization mechanisms if needed.
